Some thoughts after a few days of using Posterous

I started using Posterous some days a ago, after the blogosphere started discussing to abandon blogging towards life streaming. Now I see Posterous more as an information hub than as life streaming. In my definition life streaming aggregates different social media streams into one place and does not contain elements written directly in the life streaming app.

The first thing I didn't like about Posterous in the beginning is its' lack of any design customization possibilities. But know I realized it is nice and save allot of time not to think about design. but focus on content instead. But I still have to admit I cannot live without design at all. So my personal blog around art, contempory photography and cultues is running on Wordpress using a tweaked tumble blog theme. I will use both the tumble blog for my private art interests and Posterous for my professional live around enterprise 2.0, cooperate social media and electronic learning.

As Posterous is heavily relying on email. Sachin Agarwal and Garry Tan, who are developing Posterous, can focus on the tool itself. They do not have to hassel with the need for mobile clients on different platforms or full feature editors in the back office. For every system, mobile or desktop, there is a full feature email client available, which can be used as posting editor. The users do not need to install an additional tool.
